OK Corral Riding
Stable is a family-owned, family-run
attraction for visitors to the Wisconsin Dells area. Since 1980, the formula
for success at OK Corral has not changed: safety first, beautiful scenic
canyon trail, topnotch saddle horses, and friendly people.
We understand that our main attraction will always
be our horses. They number between
100 and 120 on a typical year, primarily Quarter Horses. The horses work
hard during the summer season and then get the rest of the year off.
During the off season the horses are boarded on sight
at the OK Corral, Which is important to keep them comfortable and familiar
with their surroundings.
OK Corral caters mainly to families and
novice riders. Another way of saying that we do not run our horses on
trail. We stay slow so that a typical family with no riding experience
can enjoy the experience of riding horses through a beautiful canyon.
Keep in mind that none of the Dell's area stables allow running to our
knowledge.
We open as early as weather allows each spring, May
1 at the latest. Starting at 9:00 each morning, we take customers as they
come in; we don't use reservations. We are able to take a group of 1-12
horses out on trail with a guide every 10 minutes. During our peak season
(July and Aug), it is typical to experience a half-hour wait. That's where
our air-conditioned snack
bar and gift store come in handy.
As for the ride itself, it lasts 50-60 minutes depending
on the pace of your group. The first half of the trail takes you through
the bottom of Devil's Canyon, a winding sandstone
gorge filled with flowers and ferns and often with running water through
it.
Once out of the canyon, you will ride through a variety
of different natural landscapes and see Indian
Teepees, Boothill Graveyard, and a beautiful grassy pasture containing
horses on their day off.
We are happy to accommodate groups. We can do this better if we know in advance what day you are coming. Finally, anyone is welcome to visit, see our horses, say hello and leave without spending a dime.
